Regular Season Round 18: Riachuelo LR - Obras 67-76
Date: January 15, 2022
Very predictable result when seventh ranked Obras (9-5) won against 12th ranked Riachuelo LR (6-9) in La Rioja 76-67 on Saturday. Strangely Riachuelo LR outrebounded Obras 49-33 including a 18-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. Uruguayan forward Joaquin Rodriguez (198-99) notched 18 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the effort and American forward Keith Stone (203-97, college: Miami, FL, agency: Duran International) supported him with 17 points and 7 rebounds. Four Obras players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 13 points and 14 rebounds by the former international center Martin Leiva (211-80) did not help to save the game for Riachuelo LR. Center Ignacio Alessio (203-87) added 14 points and 5 rebounds. Obras have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to sixth place, which they share with San Lorenzo. Riachuelo LR lost fourth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the twelfth position with nine games lost. They share it with Olimpico. Obras will meet league's leader Quimsa in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Riachuelo LR will have a break next round.
