Regular Season Round 33: Ameghino - Libertad 106-84

There was a surprise result in Villa Maria where eleventh ranked Ameghino (4-5) smashed higher ranked Libertad (5-3) 106-84 on Sunday. Ameghino dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Libertad's 36. Ameghino forced 20 Libertad turnovers. It was a great shooting night for Ameghino especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 55.6 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists comparing to just 7 passes made by Libertad's players. Power forward Juan Luis Abeiro (200-88) stepped up and scored 23 points (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winners and forward Abel Aristimuno (195-91, agency: BIG) chipped in 18 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. Ameghino's coach Pablo Castro felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was power forward Estefano Simondi (201-96) with 16 points and 9 rebounds and the former international swingman Julian Eydallin (195-0) scored 17 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Ameghino have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Bahia and Villa Mitre. Loser Libertad keeps the sixth position with three games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
