Regular Season Round 19: Riachuelo LR - La Union 101-89

Very expected game when 14th ranked La Union (6-10) lost to eighth ranked Riachuelo LR (11-8) in La Rioja 89-101 on Friday. Riachuelo LR dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to La Union's 38. It was an exceptional evening for point guard Yoel Cuenca (178-99) who led the winners with a triple-double by scoring 35 points (!!!), 14 rebounds, 10 assists and 4 steals. Forward Lautaro Velasquez (200-2) accounted for 16 points and 7 rebounds for the winning side. Riachuelo LR's coach used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Point guard Agustin Sigel (165-2) came up with 28 points and 7 rebounds and DR Congolese forward David Efambe (201-1) added 20 points and 11 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) respectively for La Union in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Riachuelo LR have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain eighth place with 11-8 record. La Union lost sixth consecutive game. They dropped to the fifteenth position with ten games lost. Riachuelo LR will meet league's leader Comunicaciones in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. La Union will play against Atenas (#10) and hope to secure a win.
