An interesting game for Uruguayan Bigua (2-1) which hosted 3rd placed Argentinian Obras (0-3). Second ranked Bigua managed to get a 11-point victory 92-81. Obras were ahead by 1 point at the halftime before a 29-14 third quarter run of Bigua. They outrebounded Obras 38-23 including a 35-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 27 assists comparing to just 13 passes made by Obras' players. American Donald Sims (190-87, college: App State, agency: Pensack Sports) stepped up and scored 26 points and 9 assists for the winners and his fellow American import Victor Rudd (206-91, college: S.Florida) chipped in 7 points, 14 rebounds and 8 assists. Point guard Pedro Barral (187-94, agency: Duran International) responded with 20 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and Uruguayan forward Joaquin Rodriguez (198-99, agency: Pro Sports) scored 20 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Defending Uruguayan champion maintains second place in Group C with 2-1 record having just one point less than leader Santurce. Obras at the other side still closes the standings with three games lost. Bigua will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Obras will play at home against the league's leader Minas and hope to get finally their first victory.
