There was no surprise in Comodoro Rivadavia where 20th ranked H.Americano (3-16) was defeated by third ranked Gimnasia (15-6) 75-57 on Wednesday. Gimnasia dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to H.Americano's 28. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international Sebastian Vega (200-88) who helped to win the game recording 13 points and 6 assists (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) and Cuban forward Joaquin Mensia (198-97, agency: Pro Sports) who added 16 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. Four Gimnasia players scored in double figures. Gimnasia's coach Martin Villagran used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was Uruguayan forward Juan Ducasse (207-98, college: Santa Clara) with 13 points and 9 rebounds and point guard Victor Fernandez (180-99) scored 9 points and 7 rebounds. Gimnasia have an impressive five-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Penarol. H.Americano lost twelfth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with 16 games lost. Gimnasia will meet at home Ferro (#5) in the next round. H.Americano will play against Obera (#13) and hope to secure a win.
