Date: February 5, 2022
Ninth-ranked Nacional (6-9) gave a tough game to second ranked Bigua (12-3) in Montevideo on Saturday. Bigua managed to secure only three-point victory 91-88. However their fans expected much easier game. Bigua looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of Dominican center Luis Santos (203-94, college: St.Louis) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 29 points and 13 rebounds (on 13-of-17 shooting from the field) and American Donald Sims (190-87, college: App State, agency: Pensack Sports) who added 27 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists during the contest. Central African-American power forward Johndre Jefferson (207-88, college: S.Carolina, agency: Inception Sports) responded with 23 points and 9 rebounds and the former international point guard Manuel Romero (183-92) scored 19 points and 8 assists. Four Nacional players scored in double figures. Nacional's coach Leonardo Zylberstein tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Defending champion maintains second position with 12-3 record having four points less than leader Goes. Nacional at the other side keeps the ninth place with nine games lost. Bigua's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Montevideo to the arena Hebraica.
