Regular Season Round 25: Brasilia - U.Corinthians 92-71
Date: February 9, 2022
Bottom-ranked Brasilia managed to get a fourth victory, breaking the series of four consecutive losses on Wednesday night. This time they outleveled fourteenth-ranked U.Corinthians 92-71. It's especially surprising that the victory came too easily and 21-point difference suggests that Brasilia is in a good shape to leave the bottom place. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of U.Corinthians. Brasilia dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to U.Corinthians' 30. They outrebounded U.Corinthians 42-26 including a 34-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. Brasilia looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. Germerson Barbosa (205-93) fired 25 points and 9 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) for the winners. American-Argentinian guard Erik Thomas (195-95, college: New Orleans) chipped in a double-double by scoring 11 points, 6 rebounds and 11 assists. Center Vinicius Malachias (209-99) produced 18 points and 5 rebounds and American MikeL Simms (196-97, college: VCU) added 15 points and 4 assists respectively for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Brasilia maintains seventeenth place with 4-17 record. U.Corinthians at the other side dropped to the fifteenth position with 13 games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
