There was a minor upset when one of their biggest challengers Sivar (8-3) was defeated at home by sixth ranked Sunset (7-3) 48-35 on Thursday. Sunset held Sivar to an opponent 22.2 percent shooting from the field compared to 30.9 percent accuracy of the winners. Sunset forced 26 Sivar turnovers. Center Paola Ortiz (172-1) had a double-double by scoring 11 points and 17 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and center Jennifer Jovel (167-99) chipped in 14 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. Point guard Wendy Guevara (165-1) responded with 9 points and 6 rebounds and center Samantha Vasquez (162-2) scored 5 points and 7 rebounds. Sivar's coach let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Sunset maintains sixth position with 7-3 record. Loser Sivar dropped to the fifth place with three games lost. Sunset will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game.
