There was a surprise result in Junin where eighteenth ranked Argentino (9-18) won against higher ranked Riachuelo LR (13-16) 88-70 on Saturday. American guard Thomas Cooper (196-1992, college: Calgary) scored 23 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists to lead the charge for the winners and naturalized American Johnatan Slider (192-1987) chipped in 14 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. Four Argentino players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was forward Rodrigo Sanchez (200-1989) with 18 points and 6 rebounds and the former international forward Pablo Espinoza (201-1987) scored 6 points and 13 rebounds. Argentino moved-up to seventeenth place. Newly promoted Riachuelo LR keeps the twelfth position with 16 games lost. Argentino will meet La Union (#18) in the next round. Riachuelo LR will play against Platense (#14) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
