Regular Season Round 2: Brujos - Chalchuapa 126-110
Date: March 15, 2022
The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Chalchuapa in Izalco on Tuesday night. Visitors were defeated by Brujos 126-110. Brujos dominated down low during the game scoring 80 of its points in the paint compared to Chalchuapa's 52. They outrebounded Chalchuapa 41-28 including 29 on the defensive glass. Brujos looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. Dominican forward Xavier de la Rosa (196-1991) scored 45 points (!!!) to lead the charge for the winners and center Teodoro Romero (202-1985) chipped in 22 points and 12 rebounds (perfect from the field making all nine shots !!!) during the contest. Five Brujos players scored in double figures. American forward Jose Ortiz (190-1990, college: DelVal) responded with 43 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds and Mario Gonzalez (183-1994) scored 31 points and 6 assists. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Brujos will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Chalchuapa will play at home against Nejapa and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
