Regular Season Round 59: Salta Basket - Independiente 97-67

There was no surprise when 10th ranked Independiente (9-13) was crushed on the road by sixth ranked Salta Basket (13-9) 97-67 on Thursday. It was a great evening for point guard Gonzalo Alonso (178-2002) who led his team to a victory scoring 21 points, 6 assists and 4 steals. Swingman Cristian Cardo (198-1999) helped adding 19 points and 7 rebounds. Fortunato Rolfi responded with 16 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists and swingman Luciano Silva (190-1996) scored 16 points and 4 assists. Five Salta Basket and four Independiente players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Salta Basket have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with 4 other teams. Loser Independiente keeps the tenth position with 13 games lost. Salta Basket will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Independiente will play against Estudiantes T. (#12) in San Miguel de Tucuman and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
