Very expected game when 10th ranked Olimpico (16-14) was edged by third ranked Penarol (22-9) in La Banda 92-89 on Friday. Penarol made 23-of-26 free shots (88.5 percent) during the game. It was a great shooting night for Penarol especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.4 percentage. It was an exceptional evening for Carlos Buemo (194-1996, agency: BIG) who led the winners and scored 24 points. Center Nicolas Franco (204-1999) accounted for 12 points and 7 rebounds for the winning side. Naturalized Italian center Damian Tintorelli (205-1981) came up with 13 points and 8 rebounds and international Leonardo Lema (204-1998) added 13 points and 5 rebounds respectively for Olimpico in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Penarol maintains third place with 22-9 record having just three point less than leader Quimsa. Loser Olimpico keeps the tenth position with 14 games lost. Penarol will meet at home league's second-placed Gimnasia in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Olimpico will play against Platense (#14) and hope to secure a win.
