Regular Season Round 7: Algodoneras - Teporacas 44-66

The game had a very big importance for first-ranked Teporacas as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Teporacas smashed 8th ranked Algodoneras in Torreon 66-44. Teporacas forced 19 Algodoneras turnovers and outrebounded them 47-22 including a 15-2 advantage in offensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international swingman Daniela Soto (177-1995) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 12 points and 11 rebounds. American center Rachel Kehoe (196-1993, college: EMU, agency: Gamble Sports Management) contributed with 14 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Four Teporacas players scored in double figures. American guard Brittany Byrd (175, college: UIC) answered with 17 points and Trinidad and Tobago forward Chervelle Cox (186-1992, college: Central St., agency: Jones Sports International) added 7 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Algodoneras. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Teporacas have a solid series of three victories in a row. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with Quetzales. Algodoneras lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team still keep top place with three games lost. They share the position with Las Plebes and Phoenix. Algodoneras will play next round against Teporacas trying to get back on the winning streak. Teporacas will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game.
