Regular Season Round 6: Chalchuapa - Santa Tecla 94-105

No shocking result in a game when third ranked Santa Tecla (4-1) defeated on the road 9th ranked Chalchuapa (1-4) 105-94. They outrebounded Chalchuapa 50-29 including a 29-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Santa Tecla especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 61.5 percentage. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists. It was a good game for Colombian Michaell Jackson (190-1987) who led his team to a victory with 19 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Dominican guard Jose Liriano (189-1998) contributed with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Five Santa Tecla players scored in double figures. Santa Tecla's coach used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Puerto Rican point guard Ryann Abraham (182-1987, college: App State) replied with 47 points (!!!) and 6 steals and American forward Jose Ortiz (190-1990, college: DelVal) added 28 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Chalchuapa. Defending champion moved-up to second place, which they share with San Salvador. Chalchuapa at the other side dropped to the tenth position with four games lost. They share it with Santa Ana. Santa Tecla will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Chalchuapa will play against Santa Ana (#11) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
