Regular Season Round 6: Nejapa - Cojute 90-86

The game in Nejapa was quite interesting. 7th ranked Cojute (1-3) played at the court of eighth ranked Nejapa (2-3). Nejapa managed to secure a 4-point victory 90-86 on Thursday. Nejapa forced 19 Cojute turnovers. The game was dominated by American players. The best player for the winners was forward Telvin Gabriel (198-1994, college: Lander) who had a double-double by scoring 30 points, 15 rebounds and 5 assists. Marcus Faison (196-1994, college: Salem St.) chipped in a double-double by scoring 15 points and 17 rebounds. Gabriel is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. At the other side the best for losing team was swingman Andravious Smith (196-1995, college: Tougaloo) who recorded a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!), 21 rebounds and 5 assists and forward Durante Lee (196, college: Purdue NW) added 27 points and 10 rebounds respectively. Cojute's coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total fourteen players in this game, but that didn't help. Nejapa moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Aguila and Fantasmas. Cojute at the other side dropped to the ninth position with three games lost. Nejapa will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Cojute will play at home against Santa Ana (#11) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
