Regular Season Round 10: Lobas - Algodoneras 85-82

Fifth-ranked Algodoneras (2-6) were very close to win a game against third ranked Lobas (8-2) in Ciudad de Mexico. Lobas managed to secure only three-point victory 85-82. However their fans expected easier game. Puerto Rican Andrea Medina (169-1992) scored 28 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists to lead the charge for the winners and Cuban center Yayma Boulet (193-1984) chipped in 19 points and 14 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side American guard Brittany Byrd (175, college: UIC) responded with 34 points (!!!) and 5 rebounds and Trinidad and Tobago forward Chervelle Cox (186-1992, college: Central St., agency: Jones Sports International) produced a double-double by scoring 10 points, 13 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Defending champion maintains third position with 8-2 record having just two points less than leader Phoenix. Algodoneras lost sixth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keep the fifth place with six games lost. Lobas will play against Racers (#7) in Saltillo in the next round. Algodoneras will play against the league's second-placed Atleticas and hope to get back on the winning track.
