Regular Season Round 10: Quetzales - Escaramuzas 89-85

We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams when fifth ranked Quetzales (4-6) beat 4th ranked Escaramuzas (6-2) in Ciudad de Mexico 89-85 on Sunday. Quetzales made 28-of-33 free shots (84.8 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Giovana Tapia notched 24 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the effort and Cuban center Clenia Noblet (190-1987) supported her with 15 points and 12 rebounds. Even a double-double of 18 points and 10 rebounds by Joselyne Padilla did not help to save the game for Escaramuzas. Italivy Ramos added 22 points for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Escaramuzas' coach Alejandra Arellano rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Despite that victory Quetzales went down to sixth position due to points difference. Loser Escaramuzas keep the fourth place with two games lost. Quetzales will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Escaramuzas will play against the league's leader Mieleras (#1) and hope to secure a win.
