Very expected game when 7th ranked Santa Ana (3-5) was rolled over on the road by leader Metapan (6-0) 82-58 on Wednesday. Metapan dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Santa Ana's 32. They outrebounded Santa Ana 53-36 including 16 on the offensive glass. Metapan looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists comparing to just 4 passes made by Santa Ana's players. The best player for the winners was Cuban forward Yoel Cubillas (204-1994) who had a double-double by scoring 19 points and 19 rebounds. American swingman Eddie Ishman (197-1986, college: Miles) chipped in 16 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Four Metapan players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American swingman Dartavious Young (201-1995, college: Everett CC) who recorded a double-double by scoring 16 points and 14 rebounds and Panamanian Jonathan King (193-1990, college: ACU) added 9 points respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Metapan have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They maintain second place with 6-0 record behind leader San Salvador. Santa Ana at the other side keeps the seventh position with five games lost. Metapan are looking forward to face Santa Tecla (#3) on the road in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Santa Ana will have a break next round.
