Regular Season Round 4: Blumenau - Catanduva 99-72

There was no surprise when 7th ranked Catanduva (1-4) was crushed on the road by fifth ranked Blumenau (2-2) 99-72 on Friday. Blumenau outrebounded Catanduva 53-32 including a 40-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. They shot the lights out from three sinking 15 long-distance shots on high 53.6 percentage. Blumenau looked well-organized offensively handing out 32 assists comparing to just 18 passes made by Catanduva's players. Worth to mention a great performance of Kawanni Firmino (186-1995) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!) and 16 rebounds and the former international swingman Leila Zabani (181-1991) who added 16 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists during the contest. At the losing side Argentinian forward Ana Paz (178-1997) responded with 18 points and 5 rebounds and guard Thaissa Frediani (166-1989) scored 17 points and 5 rebounds. Five Blumenau and four Catanduva players scored in double figures. Blumenau maintains fifth position with 2-2 record. Catanduva lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the eighth place with four games lost. They share the position with Gloria do Goita. Blumenau will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Catanduva will play against the league's second-placed Sesi/Arara. (#2) and hope to win that game.
