There was a small surprise when Ostioneros de Guaymas defeated at home Rayos de Hermosillo 92-80 on Saturday. Ostioneros de Guaymas well out of reach of Rayos de Hermosillo shooting 85.7 percent from the field. They shot the lights out from three sinking 17 long-distance shots on high 94.4 percentage. American Leon Gilmore III (201-1995, college: SF Austin) nailed 18 points and 7 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winning side and his fellow American import point guard Jaylen Fisher (188-1997, college: GCU) accounted for 15 points and 8 assists (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). American guard Jimond Ivey (196-1996, college: Akron) came up with 24 points (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field) and Turkish center Alihan Demir (206-1996, college: Minnesota) added 14 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) respectively for Rayos de Hermosillo in the defeat. Four Ostioneros de Guaymas and five Rayos de Hermosillo players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Ostioneros de Guaymas will meet Pioneros Los Mochis on the road in the next round. Rayos de Hermosillo will play against Tijuana Zonkeys and hope to win that game.
