Regular Season Round 67: Ameghino - Estudiantes T. 105-76

There was no surprise when 12th ranked Estudiantes T. (6-20) was outleveled by sixth ranked Ameghino (16-9) in Villa Maria 105-76 on Monday. Ameghino dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Estudiantes T.'s 40. They outrebounded Estudiantes T. 50-24 including a 40-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. Ameghino looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. It was an exceptional evening for power forward Juan Luis Abeiro (200-1988) who led the winners and scored 26 points and 9 rebounds. Point guard Tomas Allende (190-2002) accounted for 23 points and 8 rebounds (perfect from the field making all nine shots !!!) for the winning side. Ignacio Echevarria (195-1998) came up with 16 points and 6 rebounds and Diego Peralta (195-1994) added 16 points respectively for Estudiantes T. in the defeat. Four Estudiantes T. players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Ameghino have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They moved-up to fifth place. Estudiantes T. lost sixth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the twelfth position with 20 games lost. Ameghino will meet at home higher ranked CAO Ceres (#4) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Estudiantes T. will play against the league's leader Independ.O. (#1) in Olivia and hope to secure a win.
