Everything went according to plan in Guadalajara where Astros beat Venados 87-81 on Wednesday. Astros looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was American forward Jordan Loveridge (198-1993, college: Utah) who had a double-double by scoring 16 points, 12 rebounds and 6 assists. Naturalized American guard Karim Rodriguez (196-1988) chipped in 17 points and 5 assists (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line). Four Astros players scored in double figures. American Jermont Horton (198-1984, college: RU Newark) produced 21 points and 7 rebounds and his fellow American import center Alex Hicks (203-1996, college: Troy) added 20 points and 8 rebounds respectively for the guests. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Astros will meet at home Caballeros de Culiacan in the next round where they are favorite. Venados will play against Pioneros Los Mochis and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
