Regular Season Round 14: Chalchuapa - Fantasmas 93-110

Rather expected game when 10th ranked Chalchuapa (1-10) was defeated at home by seventh ranked Fantasmas (4-6) 110-93. Fantasmas forced 19 Chalchuapa turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists. Cuban point guard Osmel Oliva (180-1987) notched a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!), 7 rebounds, 12 assists and 5 steals to lead the effort and American JaCarre Crockett (192-1996, college: Philander Smith) supported him with 38 points (!!!), 8 rebounds and 6 assists. Even a double-double of 31 points, 16 rebounds and 4 assists by American forward Jose Ortiz (190-1990, college: DelVal) did not help to save the game for Chalchuapa. His fellow American import Gorg Alhag (190-1997, college: Mayville St.) added 20 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists for the hosts. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Fantasmas maintains seventh position with 4-6 record. Chalchuapa lost third consecutive game. They keep the tenth place with ten games lost. They share the position with Cojute. Fantasmas will play against higher ranked Santa Ana (#6) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Chalchuapa will play against Santiagueno (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
