Regular Season Round 14: Nejapa - Metapan 88-98

Very predictable result when second ranked Metapan (10-1) defeated on the road 9th ranked Nejapa (3-8) 98-88. Metapan players were unselfish on offense dishing 28 assists. Cuban forward Yoel Cubillas (204-1994) notched a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!), 14 rebounds and 4 blocks to lead the effort and American swingman Eddie Ishman (197-1986, college: Miles) supported him with 12 points, 11 rebounds and 7 assists. Four Metapan players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 22 points, 19 rebounds and 6 assists by American Marcus Faison (196-1994, college: Salem St.) did not help to save the game for Nejapa. Eder Paiz (179-2000) added 22 points and 13 assists for the hosts. Metapan have a solid four-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with San Salvador. Nejapa lost sixth consecutive game. They keep the ninth place with eight games lost. Metapan will play against league's second-placed San Salvador on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Nejapa will play against Cojute (#11) in Cojutepeque and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
