Regular Season Round 3: Guaymas - Tijuana 96-86

An interesting game was also surprising road defeat of Tijuana Zonkeys in a game versus Ostioneros de Guaymas (#7) 96-86. Ostioneros de Guaymas looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. It was an exceptional evening for American Dylan Smith (196-1997, college: Arizona) who led the winners and scored 21 points and 9 rebounds. Nigerian-American center Jawachi Nzeakor (206-1997, college: Lamar) accounted for 23 points and 7 rebounds (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field) for the winning side. American guard Josh Webster (190-1997, college: Missouri St.) came up with 26 points and 4 assists and the other American import Tonzell Handy (196, college: Tougaloo) added 15 points and 12 rebounds respectively for Tijuana Zonkeys in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Tijuana Zonkeys' coach tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Ostioneros de Guaymas will meet Rayos de Hermosillo (#5) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Tijuana Zonkeys will play against Venados where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
