Regular Season Round 15: Cojute - Nejapa 101-99

Bottom-ranked Cojute managed to get a second victory, breaking the series of nine consecutive losses. This time they edged ninth-ranked Nejapa in Cojutepeque 101-99. Cojute dominated down low during the game scoring 76 of its points in the paint compared to Nejapa's 50. Strangely Nejapa outrebounded Cojute 40-28 including 32 on the defensive glass. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 29 assists. It was a good game for American swingman Andravious Smith (196-1995, college: Tougaloo) who led his team to a victory with a triple-double by scoring 43 points (!!!), 13 rebounds and 10 assists. Forward Nestor Avalos (182-1996) contributed with 20 points, 6 assists and 4 steals for the winners. Cojute's coach allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. American forward Telvin Gabriel (198-1994, college: Lander) answered with 32 points and 9 rebounds and the other American import Marcus Faison (196-1994, college: Salem St.) added 18 points, 17 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Nejapa. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Cojute (2-11) moved-up to tenth place. Nejapa lost their seventh game in a row. They keep the ninth position with nine games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
