The most exciting game of round 16 in the Liga MB took place in Santa Tecla. This derby game ended with only three-point defeat on the road of 4th ranked Brujos (8-5) to second ranked Santa Tecla (11-2) 79-76 on Thursday evening. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Brujos. They outrebounded Brujos 54-39 including 18 on the offensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of Colombian Michaell Jackson (190-1987) who helped to win the game recording 24 points and 9 rebounds. Dominican guard Jose Liriano (189-1998) contributed with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Santa Tecla's coach used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. Center Teodoro Romero (202-1985) replied with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 17 rebounds and Maxwel Mendoza added 19 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 blocks in the effort for Brujos. Four Brujos players scored in double figures. Santa Tecla have a solid four-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains second position with 11-2 record behind leader San Salvador. Brujos at the other side keep the fourth place with five games lost. Santa Tecla are looking forward to face Santa Ana (#7) at home in the next round where they are favorite. Brujos will play against Chalchuapa and are hoping to prove to their fans that this time they can win.
