Regular Season Round 40: Ferro - Boca Jrs. 88-103
Date: April 15, 2022
Another interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Buenos Aires: Boca Jrs (#2) and Ferro (#13). Ferro was defeated at home 88-103. They outrebounded Ferro 45-32 including a 34-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. Boca Jrs looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The winners were led by guard Juan Contegrand (190-2002) who scored that evening 29 points and center Nicolas Burgos (207-2003) supported him with 11 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists. Even 19 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists by swingman Felipe Rodriguez (195-2003) did not help to save the game for Ferro. Guard Santiago Mazza (182-2001) added 16 points for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Boca Jrs (30-4) have an impressive 11-game winning streak. They maintain second position behind leader Comunicaciones. Loser Ferro keeps the thirteenth place with 22 games lost. Boca Jrs will meet Platense (#19) in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Ferro's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Buenos Aires Obras.
