Very expected game when 19th ranked Union SF (13-25) lost to fourth ranked Penarol (25-13) in Santa Fe 71-87 on Monday. Penarol outrebounded Union SF 39-25 including 29 on the defensive glass. The winners were led by American forward Al Thornton (203-1983, college: FSU, agency: BIG) who scored that evening 28 points and 8 rebounds and Tomas Monacchi (198-1997) supported him with 12 points and 12 rebounds. Even 20 points and 9 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) by Daniel Hure (200-1985) did not help to save the game for Union SF. The former international center Ivan Basualdo (203-1990) added 10 points and 8 rebounds for lost side. Union SF's coach Juan Francisco Ponce rotated ten players seeing no chance for a win. Penarol moved-up to third place, which they share with Instituto. Union SF lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the nineteenth position with 25 games lost.
