Regular Season Round 9: Monjitas BTC - Villa Nueva Jrs 57-88

Bottom-ranked Monjitas BTC (0-7) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 88-57 loss to fifth ranked Villa Nueva Jrs (4-4) in on Tuesday evening. They dominated down low during the game scoring 70 of its points in the paint compared to Monjitas BTC's 40. Villa Nueva Jrs forced 22 Monjitas BTC turnovers and outrebounded them 70-40 including a 33-15 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was Miguel Giron (-1995) who scored 21 points and 9 rebounds. Henry Alay chipped in a double-double by scoring 16 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists. Villa Nueva Jrs' coach felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was Carlos Gonzalez who recorded 7 points, 15 rebounds and 5 assists and Enzo Castro added 18 points respectively. Villa Nueva Jrs moved-up to fourth place. Monjitas BTC at the other side still closes the standings with seven games lost. Villa Nueva Jrs are looking forward to face Amatitlan (#5) at home in the next round. Monjitas BTC will play against the league's second-placed Villa Nueva and hopes to get finally their first victory.
