Worth to mention about the upset in a game between Santa Ana (5-9) and Cojute (4-12), which took place in Santa Ana. Higher ranked Santa Ana was outleveled at home by tenth ranked Cojute 125-74 on Saturday. Cojute dominated down low during the game scoring 78 of its points in the paint compared to Santa Ana's 32 and made 17-of-21 free shots (81.0 percent) during the game. Cojute forced 22 Santa Ana turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 31 assists comparing to just 16 passes made by Santa Ana's players. American guard EJ Blackwell (193, college: Lourdes) came up with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 14 rebounds and 5 assists and Erick Ortiz (185-1992, college: Rio Piedras) added 13 points and 5 rebounds respectively for Santa Ana in the defeat. Four Santa Ana players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Cojute moved-up to ninth place. Santa Ana lost their fourth game in a row. They dropped to the seventh position with nine games lost. Cojute will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Santa Ana will play against Metapan (#3) and hope to secure a win.
