But Paysandu was not able to use a home court advantage and was smashed by the opponent from Montevideo 93-46 on Saturday night. Lagomar dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Paysandu's 32. Lagomar forced 52 Paysandu turnovers and outrebounded them 50-36 including 18 on the offensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Paysandu's players. Center Selena Medrick (177-1992) nailed a double-double by scoring 16 points and 12 rebounds for the winning side and center Micaela Duran (-1996) accounted for 12 points and 7 rebounds. Five Lagomar players scored in double figures. Center Karen Villamarin (-1985) came up with 13 points and 6 rebounds and the former international point guard Sofia Nilson (-1997) added 12 points respectively for Paysandu in the defeat. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Lagomar's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Montevideo to the arena Yale.
