Another interesting game for Rayos de Hermosillo (7-5) which played in Mazatlan against one of their biggest challengers Venados (6-6). Fifth ranked Rayos de Hermosillo crushed hosts 93-68. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Venados. Rayos de Hermosillo made 16-of-19 charity shots (84.2 percent) during the game. American guard Jimond Ivey (196-1996, college: Akron) scored 23 points to lead the charge for the winners and Turkish center Alihan Demir (206-1996, college: Minnesota) chipped in 19 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was American center Alex Hicks (203-1996, college: Troy) with 15 points and 8 rebounds and his fellow American import point guard Davin White (185-1981, college: CSUN) scored 11 points and 4 assists. Five Rayos de Hermosillo and four Venados players scored in double figures. Venados' coach gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Defending champion moved-up to third place, which they share with Obregon. Venados at the other side dropped to the fifth position with six games lost. Rayos de Hermosillo will play against bottom-ranked Caballeros de Culiacan (#8) at home in the next round where they are favorite. Venados will play against Ostioneros de Guaymas and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
