Regular Season Round 7: LSB - Vera Cruz 69-59

Another exciting game was between eighth ranked LSB and 5th ranked Vera Cruz where host LSB (3-5) won against Vera Cruz (4-4) 69-59. LSB forced 19 Vera Cruz turnovers. Strangely Vera Cruz outrebounded LSB 52-36 including 38 on the defensive glass. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. Vera Cruz was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of international forward Thayna Silva (180-1996) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 18 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists. Center Brenda Barros (184-2000) contributed with 15 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Forward Emanuely De Oliveira (178-1999, college: Florida) answered with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 14 rebounds and the former international point guard Tassia Carcavalli (176-1992) added 12 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Vera Cruz. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. LSB moved-up to seventh place. Vera Cruz at the other side keeps the fifth position with four games lost. LSB will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Vera Cruz will play at home against Ituano (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
