Regular Season Round 15: Algodoneras - Regias 47-75

No shocking result in a game in Torreon where second ranked Regias (12-1) smashed 7th ranked Algodoneras (5-8) 75-47 on Saturday. Regias dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Algodoneras' 26. It was a great evening for Cuban Yamara Amargo (179-1985) who led her team to a victory scoring 20 points and 5 rebounds. The former international Sandra Sanchez (175-1990) helped adding 19 points and 5 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). The best for the losing side was American guard Brittany Byrd (175, college: UIC) with 13 points and 7 rebounds and Trinidad and Tobago forward Chervelle Cox (186-1992, college: Central St.) scored 7 points and 9 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Regias maintains second place with 12-1 record having just ten point less than leader Phoenix. Newly promoted Algodoneras dropped to the eighth position with eight games lost. They share it with Barreteras. Regias will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Algodoneras will play again against the league's second-placed Regias (#2) and hope to secure a win.
