Very important is a road loss of third ranked Lobas (10-3) against fifth ranked Teporacas (8-5) on Saturday night. Visiting Lobas were defeated by Teporacas in 85-73. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Lobas. Teporacas players were unselfish on offense dishing 26 assists. It was a good game for the former international swingman Daniela Soto (177-1995) who led her team to a victory with 23 points, 6 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals. The former international center Jazmin Valenzuela (187-1989) contributed with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Cuban center Yayma Boulet (193-1984) answered with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 11 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) and American point guard Stephanie Gardner (170-1992, college: ODU) added 13 points and 6 assists in the effort for Lobas. Teporacas maintains fifth place with 8-5 record. Defending champion Lobas keep the third position with three games lost. Teporacas will again play against higher ranked Lobas (#3) in Ciudad de Mexico in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Lobas will have a break next round.
