Regular Season Round 7: Bayamon - Mayaguez 98-54

There was no surprise in Bayamon where 6th ranked Indios (2-7) were crushed by second ranked Vaqueros (4-2) 98-54 on Wednesday. Vaqueros dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Indios' 30. They outrebounded Indios 53-38 including a 42-28 advantage in defensive rebounds. Vaqueros looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. It was a great evening for the former international point guard Angel Rodriguez (180-1992, college: Miami, FL) who led his team to a victory scoring 21 points, 7 rebounds and 9 assists. American power forward Dewan Hernandez (211-1997, college: Miami, FL) helped adding 15 points and 15 rebounds. Five Vaqueros players scored in double figures. At the losing side American power forward Terrence Jones (206-1992, college: Kentucky) responded with 16 points and 8 rebounds and the other American import Marcus Barham (195-1996, college: FAMU) scored 7 points and 5 rebounds. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Vaqueros maintains second place with 4-2 record behind leader Quebradillas. Loser Indios keep the sixth position with seven games lost. Vaqueros will meet Atleticos (#4) in the next round. Indios will play against Mets and hope to secure a win.
