Regular Season Round 8: Fajardo - Carolina 71-70

Sixth-ranked Gigantes (1-5) were very close to win a game against first ranked Cariduros (5-2) in Fajardo on Saturday. Cariduros managed to secure only one-point victory 71-70. However their fans expected much easier game. Cariduros looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. American forward Davon Jefferson (203-1986, college: USC) saved the victory with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds. International forward Emmanuel Andujar (197-1993, college: Manhattan) contributed with 16 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. American forward Justin Tillman (203-1996, college: VCU) replied with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 12 rebounds and his fellow American import point guard Tremont Waters (180-1998, college: LSU) added 13 points and 7 assists in the effort for Gigantes. Five Gigantes players scored in double figures. Gigantes' coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Cariduros maintains first position with 5-2 record, which they share with Bayamon. Gigantes lost third consecutive game. They keep the sixth place with five games lost. Cariduros is looking forward to face Mets (#3) in Guaynabo in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Gigantes will play on the road against Grises in Humacao and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
