Regular Season Round 23: Chalchuapa - Cojute 87-80

There was a minor upset when their close opponent Cojute (4-14) was defeated on the road by ninth ranked Chalchuapa (4-15) 87-80 on Sunday. Chalchuapa forced 24 Cojute turnovers. Strangely Cojute outrebounded Chalchuapa 50-29 including a 35-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was Puerto Rican point guard Ryann Abraham (182-1987, college: App State) who scored 36 points (!!!), 5 rebounds and 6 assists. American Gorg Alhag (190-1997, college: Mayville St.) chipped in a double-double by scoring 23 points and 12 rebounds. Alhag is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. American swingman Andravious Smith (196-1995, college: Tougaloo) produced a double-double by scoring 25 points, 18 rebounds and 4 assists and the other American import guard Jordon Myers (201-1998) added 16 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for the guests. Four Cojute players scored in double figures. Cojute's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Despite that victory Chalchuapa went down to tenth position due to points difference. Loser Cojute keeps the ninth place with 14 games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
