Regular Season Round 10: Hermosillo - Los Mochis 60-86
Date: May 7, 2022
We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when their biggest opponent Rayos de Hermosillo (13-7) was outplayed at home by third ranked Pioneros Los Mochis (12-8) 86-60 on Saturday. Pioneros Los Mochis dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Rayos de Hermosillo's 32. Pioneros Los Mochis forced 19 Rayos de Hermosillo turnovers. Swiss point guard Jordan Stevens (182-1994, college: Midwestern St.) fired 29 points and 4 assists for the winners. American power forward Kwame Alexander (201-1990, college: CSUSB, agency: BIG) chipped in a double-double by scoring 18 points and 14 rebounds. Four Pioneros Los Mochis players scored in double figures. American guard Terrence Drisdom (196-1992, college: CPP) produced 14 points and 8 rebounds and his fellow American import guard Jordan Brangers (188-1995, college: South Plains) added 13 points and 4 assists respectively for lost side. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Pioneros Los Mochis maintains third position with 12-8 record having just two points less than leader Astros. Defending champion Rayos de Hermosillo keeps the second place with seven games lost. Pioneros Los Mochis will meet bottom-ranked Caballeros de Culiacan (#8) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Rayos de Hermosillo will play against Ostioneros de Guaymas (#5) and hope to secure a win.
