Regular Season Round 20: Racers - Algodoneras 68-65

Important game to mention about took place in Saltillo. Second ranked Racers (2-14) saved a 3-point victory at home edging 10th ranked Algodoneras (5-11) 68-65 on Sunday evening. Host team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. Racers forced 20 Algodoneras turnovers and outrebounded them 45-34 including 31 on the defensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Takoia Larry (180-1991, college: TxWes) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 19 points and 11 rebounds and Katia Mendoza who added 13 points during the contest. Four Racers players scored in double figures. Trinidad and Tobago forward Chervelle Cox (186-1992, college: Central St.) responded with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 16 rebounds (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) and American guard Brittany Byrd (176-1997, college: UIC) scored 14 points and 6 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Newly promoted Racers maintains second position with 2-14 record behind leader Phoenix. Algodoneras lost fourth consecutive game. Algodoneras at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keep the tenth place with 11 games lost. They share the position with Las Plebes. Racers will play against league's leader Lenadoras in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Algodoneras will play against Teporacas (#5) and hope to get back on the winning track.
