Regular Season Round 5: Libertadores - Plateras 97-65

There was a minor upset when their close opponent Plateras (1-5) were smashed by third ranked Libertadores (4-2) in Queretaro 97-65 on Saturday. Libertadores dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Plateras' 34 and made 16-of-20 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. Libertadores looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. American power forward Lyndra Littles Weaver (185-1987, college: Virginia) nailed a double-double by scoring 25 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists for the winning side and her fellow American import swingman Robyn Parks (185-1992, college: VCU) accounted for 29 points and 5 assists. Four Libertadores players scored in double figures. American forward Kamilah Jackson (183-1992, college: Hawaii) came up with 19 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists and Canadian guard Faatimah Amen-Ra (163-1991, college: Toronto) added 17 points respectively for Plateras in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Libertadores moved-up to second place, which they share with Fuerza Regia. Plateras lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the third position with five games lost. Libertadores will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Plateras will play against the league's second-placed Fuerza Regia in Monterrey and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
