Regular Season Round 2: Lar V. - Frontera 50-91
Date: May 15, 2022
But Lar V. was not able to use a home court advantage and was rolled over by the opponent from Temuco 91-50 on Sunday night. Frontera dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Lar V.'s 40. Frontera forced 24 Lar V. turnovers and outrebounded them 57-28 including a 42-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 38 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Lar V.'s players. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Frontera made 7 blocks. The former international forward Daniela Troncoso (178-1987) had a triple-double by scoring 22 points, 10 rebounds, 10 assists and 6 steals to lead the charge for the winners and Argentinian center Melisa Cejas (186-1984) chipped in 21 points, 11 rebounds and 7 assists (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) during the contest. Four Frontera players scored in double figures. Fernanda Velasquez (-2002) responded with 21 points and Rocio Cortez scored 9 points and 5 rebounds. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Frontera will meet at home Ancud in the next round. Lar V. will play against Alemana P. in Paillaco and hope to win that game.
