Regular Season Round 3: Remeros - Yale 54-34

There was a small surprise in Mercedes where Remeros (1-2) smashed Yale (1-2) 54-34 on Sunday. Remeros held Yale to an opponent 20.3 percent shooting from the field compared to 36.1 percent accuracy of the winners. Remeros forced 23 Yale turnovers and outrebounded them 44-32 including 33 on the defensive glass. It was a great evening for forward Pia Moyano (170-1995) who led her team to a victory scoring 13 points and 7 rebounds. Center Melina Zapata (180-1989) helped adding 16 points and 6 rebounds. The best for the losing side was guard Sofia Podesta (161-2003) with 3 points and 10 rebounds and Luciana Chagas (174-2002) scored 11 points and 5 steals. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Remeros will meet Juventud (#10) in the next round. Yale will play against Paysandu and hope to win that game.
