Third-ranked Astros (3-2) gave a tough game to top-ranked Adelitas (8-0) in Chihuahua. Adelitas managed to secure only three-point victory 74-71. However their fans expected easier game. Adelitas forced 26 Astros turnovers. Strangely Astros outrebounded Adelitas 37-16 including a 30-12 advantage in defensive rebounds. American guard Kristen Spolyar (178-1997, college: Butler) notched 21 points and 4 assists to lead the effort and Senegalese power forward Oumoul Sarr (185-1984) supported her with 18 points (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Even a double-double of 17 points, 11 rebounds and 8 assists by American forward Joy Adams (180-1993, college: Iona) did not help to save the game for Astros. Russian forward Julia Gladkova (185-1994) added 22 points and 5 rebounds. Four Astros players scored in double figures. Adelitas have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 8-0 record. Astros at the other side keep the third place with two games lost. Adelitas will play against Plateras (#4) in Fresnillo in the next round. Astros will play at home against Abejas and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
