A very close game took place in Juana Diaz between Leones and Atleticos. First ranked Leones (11-5) got a very close home victory over 4th ranked Atleticos (9-8). Leones managed to escape with a 3-point win 87-84 on Friday evening. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Atleticos. The former international guard Jezreel De Jesus (185-1991, agency: Interperformances) notched 15 points and 9 assists to lead the effort and the former international power forward Jordan Murphy (200-1997, college: Minnesota) supported him with 11 points and 7 rebounds. Even 20 points and 8 rebounds by American forward Rondae Hollis-Jefferson (201-1995, college: Arizona) did not help to save the game for Atleticos. His fellow American import Onzie Branch (201-1991, college: Gardner-Webb) added 11 points and 5 rebounds for the guests. Five Leones and four Atleticos players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Leones have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 11-5 record, which they share with Bayamon. Loser Atleticos keep the fourth place with eight games lost. Leones will meet Indios (#5) in the next round. Atleticos will play against Capitanes in Arecibo and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
