Very important is a home loss of third ranked Rayos de Hermosillo (17-10) against fourth ranked Halcones de Ciudad Obregon (14-13) on Saturday night. Host Rayos de Hermosillo was defeated by Halcones de Ciudad Obregon in a tough game in Hermosillo 88-96. Halcones de Ciudad Obregon dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Rayos de Hermosillo's 32. They outrebounded Rayos de Hermosillo 41-27 including 28 on the defensive glass. Halcones de Ciudad Obregon looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Americans were the main players on the court also this time. Point guard Quincy Taylor (183-1991, college: Longwood) fired 26 points for the winners. Forward Germain Jordan (198-1986, college: Dillard) chipped in a double-double by scoring 12 points and 12 rebounds. Halcones de Ciudad Obregon's coach Ariel Rearte used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Guard Jordan Brangers (188-1995, college: South Plains) produced 26 points and 7 assists and guard Jimond Ivey (196-1996, college: Akron) added 22 points and 8 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Halcones de Ciudad Obregon maintains fourth place with 14-13 record, which they share with Tijuana. Defending champion Rayos de Hermosillo dropped to the second position with ten games lost. They share it with Los Mochis. Halcones de Ciudad Obregon will meet at home Ostioneros de Guaymas (#6) in the next round. Rayos de Hermosillo will play against Venados (#7) and hope to secure a win.
