Not a big story in a game when Estrella del Sur (0-3) was outscored by Gimnastico (3-0) in Vina del Mar 97-56 on Saturday. Gimnastico dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Estrella del Sur's 38. Gimnastico forced 27 Estrella del Sur turnovers and had a 22-10 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Estrella del Sur's players. It was an exceptional evening for the former international forward Barbara Cousino (178-1996) who led the winners and scored 30 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. The former international center Catalina Abuyeres (182-1997) accounted for 17 points and 10 rebounds for the winning side. Paulina Cuello (-2002) came up with 11 points and 7 rebounds and Maria Reyes (-1997) added 12 points and 5 rebounds respectively for Estrella del Sur in the defeat. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Gimnastico will meet Sportiva Ita. in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Estrella del Sur will play against New Crusaders and hopes to get finally their first victory.
