There was a minor upset in Guayama where their close opponent Brujos (3-14) were defeated by sixth ranked Gigantes (6-9) 88-74 on Saturday. Gigantes dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Brujos' 40. The best player for the winners was American guard Sheldon McClellan (196-1992, college: Miami, FL, agency: Slash Sports) who scored 27 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Nigerian power forward Alade Aminu (207-87, college: Georgia Tech) chipped in 18 points and 6 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field). At the other side the best for losing team was American power forward Ben McCauley (206-1986, college: NC State) who recorded 14 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists and naturalized American swingman Jahvari Josiah (193-1993, college: Coppin St., agency: Green Sports Management) added 21 points respectively. Five Gigantes and four Brujos players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Gigantes moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Humacao. Brujos lost eighth consecutive game. They keep the sixth position with 14 games lost. Gigantes will meet higher ranked Atleticos (#4) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Brujos will play against the league's second-placed Piratas in Quebradillas and hope to secure a win.
