Seventh-ranked Venados (9-18) gave a tough game to fifth ranked Tijuana Zonkeys (14-13) in Mazatlan. The visitors from Tijuana managed to secure only three-point victory 89-86. However their fans expected easier game. American guard Josh Webster (190-1997, college: Missouri St.) nailed 26 points and 7 assists for the winning side and the former international Fabian Jaimes (198-1992) accounted for 19 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). Tijuana Zonkeys' coach allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. American point guard Davin White (185-1981, college: CSUN) came up with 34 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds and the other American import guard Jeff Ledbetter (191-1988, college: Idaho, agency: Slash Sports) added 12 points and 5 rebounds respectively for Venados in the defeat. Four Venados players scored in double figures. Tijuana Zonkeys have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Obregon. Venados lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the seventh position with 18 games lost. Tijuana Zonkeys will play against bottom-ranked Caballeros de Culiacan (#8) on the road in the next round. Venados will play against Rayos de Hermosillo and hope to get back on the winning track.
